" Empires inetably fall, and when they do, history judges them for the legacies they leave behind." - Noah Feldman

Fall of the Mongol Empire

Although the Mongol empire was a the largest continuing land empire, it had a relavitvely short life-span when comared to the Roman of the Egyptian one. It's fall had many factors, from having such a large empire, and to public health. Each one of these reasons would add to the over fall of a great empire.

Having an empire that large must surely come with many draw backs. The size of the empire was far to great for one person to soley control, even with help. The bigger they are the harder they fall.

Enemies

An Empire that large, and with that much power had plenty of enemies. The Chinese Ming dynasty overthrew Yuan dysnaty (the Mongol dynasty that ruled) in 1368. This happened because the Mongols once ruled over China. Allowing the Mongols to be at the top of the caste system.  It would later drive a wedge between the relatioinship of some one the Chinese ctitzens. The Ming dynasty helped divide them even further, and the different areas of the Mongol empire faded into the culture and peoples around them.

Military Defeats

The Mongolain army had suffered many heavy defeats. The Mongol's had many different military campaings, some were very successful, but other were not. One of their most famous failures was the invasions upon Japan. While trying to conquer the world, a lot was lost in the battles doing so.

 Public Health

One of the many downfalls of the Mongol Empire was something that it established and encouraged from the beginning of its creation, trade. With trade route such as the silk road; disease cound be easily spread throughout the Mongol Empire. One of the main diseases that was spread was the black or bubonic plauge that spead quickly through the Mongol people and quickly terminated those that were affected.

Imorality and Spending

Money was also a problem. Spending money on wars, and commisioning public works had started to take it's toll. Not only that on the last legs of its life, the Yuan Dynasty would have problems of inflation becuase of the paper money issued. Everyone under the nobles would not be in great shape because of this

    Natural Disasters

There were many natural disasters that lead to the death of the Mongol Empire. There were times of drought which would later lead to faminine. The Yellow River, a major river in the empire, would flood that would cause chaos to those affected.
